Quote of the day

If you've no idea what you’re doing, welcome to the club!
Blog 153 Quote Being an Adult

Being a grown-up isn’t easy. This is a friendly reminder that if you feel insecure, worry that you don’t fit in, or wonder when people will work out that you don’t really know what you’re doing – you’re in the real-world grown-up club! If you overthink things, or if you feel inadequate and don’t even know why – you’re in the club too. If you sometimes get annoyed at yourself for being too sensitive or saying yes to things that you really want to say no to – you qualify as well. If you secretly fantasise about running away and escaping all responsibilities, there are plenty of others in the club who want to go with you. If you make choices that you know will have poor consequences or get angry at yourself when you hear words coming out of your mouth that you promised you’d never say out loud – others in the club get it. If you wish you were richer, healthier, braver or smarter – welcome to adulthood.

Adulting is hard, complex, messy, and full of adventures, challenges and opportunities. There's much that is unplanned, that takes us unawares and finds us unprepared. Sometimes we adults fail, hurt, exhaust ourselves and get life wrong. But within those struggles we learn to survive, and sometimes thrive.

Some of the most successful and inspiring people in the world have been considered weird or offbeat. Some of the greatest innovators had no friends or failed school. Some of the wealthiest people now running the biggest organisations have failed over and over. They all got knocked down, but got up and kept going, kept trying, doing their own best in their own way.

The simplest coaching question you can ask yourself at the beginning of each day is: ‘How will I be the best version of me today?’
